As part of the registration process with Empowering Learning Limited we undertake a recorded 14-point compliance check process, ensuring candidates meet the necessary requirements ahead of deployment into our client schools, academies and nurseries.

We are committed to fulfilling all safeguarding requirements and ensuring that all relevant checks are completed for each of our candidates.

To meet these standards, we are required to carry out the following 14 part check:

Face-to-Face Interview: All candidates are required to register face-to-face with a trained recruitment consultant. We will verify the documentation you must produce to complete your registration in compliance with our safeguarding requirements.

References Check: A minimum of two professional referees (using the referees’ professional email addresses only) is essential.

Identification Confirmation: We are required to verify your identity using a document that contains your photograph such as a valid passport, a biometric residence permit for the UK or a current UK driving licence.

Barred List Check: We check the Disclosure and Barring Service’s (DBS) lists against your current and previous surnames.

Right to Work Confirmation: Your passport and visa will prove your right to work in the UK.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check: This can be done via a DBS update service check should your certificate be registered with that service. In that case, we must see your original certificate and have signed consent to proceed. Alternatively, we can get a new DBS for you via our quick and easy online application.

Date of Birth Check: We will confirm your date of birth using your passport, driving licence or valid EU National Identity Card.

Change of Name Confirmation: We will verify any previous names against marriage certificates, civil partnership certificates, divorce papers or deed poll certificates.

Qualifications Check: Your qualifications must be confirmed with the issuing institution or NCTL, or via your UK NARIC certificate, if applicable.

Medical Fitness to Work Declaration: This declaration is to be completed by all candidates.

Proof of Address: We must confirm your home address via one or more of the following documents: a utility bill (electricity, gas or water); a landline phone bill (mobile phone bills are not acceptable); a bank, building society or credit card statement of no more than 3 months old; this year’s council tax statement; a mortgage statement; a P45 or P60 (issued within the last 12 months); another financial statement such as pension or endowment documentation.

National College for Teaching and Leadership Verification: This is for all UK and overseas-trained teachers who have been awarded QTS in the UK and allows us to check your teaching status. You are required to provide your seven-digit teacher number at registration.

Overseas Police Check: All teachers from overseas, or who have recently worked overseas, must have a police check from the relevant country.

Disqualification by Association Check: This is a mandatory check for all candidates.
