I taught science in both Nigeria and the Seychelles
before coming to the UK. I was recommended to Empowering
Learning by Newham Local Education Authority and
registered with them in March 2006.
In June and July of 2006 Empowering Learning organised
a voluntary work experience placement for me in
a school close to my home and in September 2006
I began the Professional Standards for Teachers
course. By the end of 2006 the training and work
experience had made me more confident in the UK
system and I started doing supply work in secondary
schools. This has progressed to placements of one
and two terms and I am now hopeful of registering
for QTS assessment in my current school in the near
future.
I am grateful to Empowering Learning for the training
and work placements, along with work permit applications
on my behalf and continued professional support.
