I joined Empowering Learning in early January 2009 to discuss the terms and conditions and provide the documents required. Immediately I felt at ease in their presence, we talked through my teaching experiences, the agency’s requirements of me and discussed what I would like to get from the agency. I appreciated the time they spent talking with me and leaving the office, I felt unbelievably relieved and enthusiastic for my first supply call from them.

Moving to a new country to start a new career is always a bit nerve-wracking, but Empowering Learning made the transition so much easier for me. Having had experience of teaching in Romania, I felt extremely frustrated being stuck in a dead-end Nursery Nurse job. Luckily, while studying at Barnet College one of my teachers came to my rescue and told me about an agency that helps overseas trained teachers.

That’s how I came into contact with Empowering Learning. I registered with them in September 2009 and after the interview with Ms Hannigan I had high hopes of finding a teaching job.

One of the key reasons I registered with them was because of their strict high standards of recruitment, selecting staff of only a high calibre, as I feel this contributes to maintaining high standards of professionalism in the world of education. At the beginning, in order to improve my knowledge about UK curriculum I attended a course, “Professional Standards for Teachers”, which involved a 6 weeks work experience placement in a school. After completing the course, Ms Hannigan believed strongly in my abilities and sent me out for supply. Empowering Learning provided me daily and long term supply.

Although I have registered with other agencies, through choice this is the only agency I use now. There is not just one reason for this but a combination. I find Empowering Learning extremely reliable, efficient and tailored to meet my individual needs. The agency goes beyond its call of duty by providing opportunities for teachers to attend a variety of training courses to ensure continual professional development such as Professional standards for teachers or the termly EMA CPD.

I love working with Empowering Learning - I feel like part of their family! The staff that I deal with are professional, cheerful and always helpful - whenever I call, and whatever my request!! I appreciate that they have made it their business to get to know the schools (and myself) really well and, therefore, have a really good understanding of our expectations. It's a great relationship that has been working well for over one year now - long may it continue. I would highly recommend Empowering Learning. Overall, Empowering Learning is a fantastic agency, whose relaxed but professional business has made an incredible impact on not just my career but of many teachers and schools. I am very pleased to be part of this successful organization.
